RESUMEN:
El proyecto pretende establecer el alcance de las transformaciones sucedidas durante el siglo VII a. C en la sociedad fenicia colonial de la Península Ibérica como consecuencia de la llegada a Occidente de nuevos colonos orientales. Dichas transformaciones afectan a las relaciones socioeconómicas, así como a los desarrollos urbanos y territoriales propìciando cambios de gran envergadura en el proceso histórico que son apreciables en el registro arqueológico. El crecimiento de los asentamientos preexistentes, asi como su expansión y la creación de nuevos espacios productivos y de intercambio, algunos muy alejados geográficamente, junto con la aparición de nuevas ciudades, son los factores esenciales a tener en cuenta. Se procederá al estudio y valoración de tales cambios mediante una serie de análisis sectoriales que comprenden: análisis petrográficos de las cerámicas, estudios del material epigráfico, análisis de los sistemas de pesas y medidas, estudio arqueológico de los asentamientos y su proyección en el territorio, aplicación de las matemáticas fractales al estudio de la colonización, análisis de ADN mitocondrial con el fin de establecer posibles relaciones de parentesco y de determinar el origen de los individuos que llegan a Occidente en el trancurso de la “segunda oleada de la colonización fenicia”. La investigación planteada converge con el proyecto del Albright Institute for Archaeological Research : “The Neo Assyrian Empire in the 7th century BC. A Study of Interactions between Center and Peryphery”
PROJET TITLE: PERIPHERY AND CENTER. THE PHOENICIAN SETTLEMENT IN THE WEST AND THE NEOASSYRIAN EMPIRE AT 7th CENTURY BC.
SUMMARY:
The project tries to determine the scope of the transformations that the colonial Phoenician society in the Iberian Peninsula underwent during the 7th. century BC as a consequence of the arrival of new eastern colonists to Occident. Those transformations reached the socioeconomic relations as well as the urban and territorial developments, favouring very important changes in the historic process that can be perceived in the archaeological registry. The fundamental factors to take into account are the growth of pre-existing settlements, their expansion and the creation of new productive and trade locations -some quite far geographically-, as well as the emergence of new cities. Those changes will be studied and assessed through a variety of sectorial analysis, including: petrographic analysis of pottery, studies on epigraphical material, analysis of systems of weights and measures, archaeological study of settlements and their territorial projection, fractal mathematic research focused on colonization, as well as mitocondrial DNA analysis in order to establish the possible kindred relations within the same site and to determine the origins of individuals arriving in Occident during the “second wave of Phoenician colonization”. The researches that we propose converge with the A Albright Institute for oArchaeological Research projet: “The Neo Assyrian Empire in the 7th century BC. A Study of Interactions between Center and Peryphery”
